Philippe Jabre | Founder of Jabre Capital Partners
Philippe Jabre was born in 1960 in Beit Chebab, Beirut. He studied at Notre Dame de Jamhour before attending the American University of Beirut, although his studies were cut short due to the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War. Mr Jabre relocated to Canada, where he studied economics at Concordia University in Montreal, graduating with honours in 1980. He subsequently attended Columbia Business School in New York, earning an MBA. An active member of Columbia Business School’s Investment Banking Club, Mr Jabre was invited to join the prestigious learning institution’s Board of Overseers in recognition of his significant professional achievements.
Professional Journey
Mr Jabre embarked on his professional journey in 1983, when he joined BAII Asset Management, BNP’s investment division. He gained a wealth of experience managing assets across multiple markets in this role. In 1996, he joined GLG Partners in London, a division of Lehman Brothers International (Europe). He played a pivotal role as a portfolio manager and partner, overseeing the firm’s flagship investment fund and developing strong relationships with global institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds across Europe and the Middle East. Combining his expertise in financial markets with his ability to anticipate macroeconomic trends, Mr Jabre solidified his reputation as a prominent investment manager.
Jabre Capital Partners
Philippe Jabre founded Jabre Capital Partners in 2006, leading the independent wealth management company and multi-family office from strength to strength over the years as CIO and CEO. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, Jabre Capital Partners at one point managed multi-billion-dollar investment portfolios for a prestigious global clientele, including institutional investors, family offices and high-net-worth individuals. His innovative investment strategies spanned both traditional and alternative asset classes, earning Philippe Jabre industrywide recognition as well as numerous coveted industry awards.
Philanthropy
Outside of his professional life, Philippe Jabre is a committed philanthropist, having launched the Association Philippe Jabre in 2001. This non-profit organisation was created with the mission of addressing the needs of underprivileged individuals in Lebanese society, promoting access to higher education. The Association Philippe Jabre has awarded over 3,000 university scholarships to date, providing vital financial assistance to youth in need with a spirit of equality and non-discrimination. The Association Philippe Jabre also helps Lebanese families to access schooling and medical care.
Mr Jabre has also been a proud supporter of various charities, community events and cultural associations, leveraging his public standing to drive positive social change throughout the course of a career spanning four decades.
Almaza Brewery
Mr Jabre eventually returned to Lebanon, having acquired a majority stake from the Heineken Group in Almaza, the iconic family-owned Lebanese brewery – underscoring his commitment to local economic development.
